Orange Belgium launches Orange TV Lite

Watching regular television without a decoder made easy

Almost 40% of the Belgians have a subscription to a paid channel or service to watch films or series. Orange TV Lite, the new concept launched by Orange Belgium, makes it possible to combine such a streaming account with common TV broadcasting, without having to pay a full subscription. Orange TV Lite enables viewers to stream up to 20 television channels to their smartphones, tablets and PC’s, including Google Chromecast’s casting feature, without a decoder.

More and more people are streaming their favorite series and movies online. A survey conducted by Orange showed that 39 percent1 of all Belgians currently use such a streaming platform. Amongst people aged between 18 and 34 even more than half (56%) have a subscription to a streaming website.

Made for evolving content habits

The new concept Orange TV Lite allows customers with evolving habits for content to watch common TV channels without a decoder, using for example Google Chromecast, Google Nest Hub), smartphone, tablet or pc. According to the previously mentioned survey about 1 Belgian out of 6 is already using Google Chromecast.1

Orange TV Lite offers viewers the possibility, for a highly competitive price, to watch a selection of up to 20 television channels, containing a variety of content for all age categories. There will be 2 offers: One with Dutch-speaking channels and the other one with French-speaking channels. The first one includes 11 Dutch-speaking channels such as VTM, VTM Kids, Eén, Canvas, Play4, Play5, Play6… but also National Geographic, Disney Channel and FOX amongst others. The second one includes 15 French-speaking channels: La Une, RTL-TVI, PlugTV, TF1, France 2, … but also ​ National Geographic and Disney Channel amongst others.

Family friendly

Orange TV Lite comes with a set of extra features. Programs can be recorded and watched later. TV can be streamed on a wide variety of devices and the app can be installed on five devices in total, making Orange TV Lite family friendly. Streaming is possible using Wi-Fi, but also 4G in Belgium and Europe. All the content – live channels and recordings - can be watched via the dedicated mobile app, called Orange TV Plus and available in the Google Play Store and the App Store.

One more thing: for the customers who subscribed to the Orange Football pack (10.99€/month) in order to get access to the Jupiler Pro League, the three dedicated channels of Eleven Sports will be directly integrated in the app, for free.

Orange TV Lite is made available only in a ‘Love ‘or ‘Home’ package at a cost of 8,5 euro/month. In a combination of ‘Love’ and ‘Go Plus, unlimited fixed internet and voice calls, 10GB data and TV Lite are made available to Orange clients at 58,5 euro/month. ​

1Ad hoc research conducted online in 9 countries, among which Belgium, from November 10th 2020 until December 4th 2020. In each country a representative sample of 1.000 individuals of at least 18 years old were surveyed. The representativeness was ascertained via gender, age, socioeconomic status and region quotas.
