Orange Belgium launches #SamenSolidair #TousSolidaires and turns its more than 100 shops into collection points to gather all sorts of necessities to help families in need

The heavy floods are largely disrupting the life of many Belgian citizens and, as a responsible operator, Orange Belgium intends to do its part in not only maintaining (and restoring where needed) connectivity in the impacted areas, but also helping the families in need. Therefore as from tomorrow 17/07/2021 Orange Belgium turns its more than 100 shops into collection points where all people can leave items to help the people who lost their homes.

The customers impacted by the heavy rain fall will also receive 5GB mobile data to help them take care of all practicalities in rebuilding their homes and contacting their friends and family.

Orange shops become collection points to help the families in need #SamenSolidair #TousSolidaires

Orange Belgium, as a critical service provider, takes its social responsibility to a higher level with meaningful initiatives to help its customers and Belgian citizens in general, impacted by the floods. Apart from the telco support Orange Belgium is obviously providing to help customers with their damaged devices and disconnected services due to the power cuts and floods, people from all over the country can bring a list of the most needed items to any Orange shop as from Saturday 17/07: blankets, clothing, toiletries, but also baby necessities and pet food. Afterwards these items will be dispatched to local organizations that help the families in need.

Orange Belgium is giving the same material support to its team members that encountered severe damages by the floods.

The impacted customers also receive an additional 5GB of mobile data. They will receive an SMS and will then be able to redeem their 5GB gift via their MyOrange application before August 1st. No other action is required; in particular there is no need to call the customer service.

Christophe Dujardin, Chief Consumer Officer of Orange Belgium, comments: “It is our role to help people staying connected during these challenging times. But we felt the need to go the extra mile, by granting free additional data to our impacted customers, but also by supporting creative forms of specific help needed. #SamenSolidair #TousSolidaires is a good example of that.”

Orange Belgium’s technicians work 24/7 to maintain (and restore) connectivity

The Orange Belgium’s mobile and fixed networks have been partially affected, particularly in the regions of Liège and Verviers and in the municipalities of Eupen, Raeren, Rochefort Marche and Famenne. The priority is to stabilize the situation and restore services as quickly as possible, given the difficult conditions caused by both the power cuts and the floods. When the infrastructure is accessible, technical teams are on site to try to restore the situation. Appointments with technicians and the opening of some of the Orange shops may also be affected. All Orange shop representatives in the impacted area are safe and sound. Orange Belgium is closely monitoring the situation, in cooperation with BIPT and the Federal Crisis Centre, and its technicians are on standby day and night to restore services if necessary.
