Orange Belgium’s recognition by Ookla® as the fastest 5G network in Belgium confirms its leadership in high-performance mobile connectivity

Ookla®, the company behind Speedtest™, provides a global view of real-world network performance, using crowdsourced data to reflect the experiences of consumers across networks worldwide. After being recognized for the quality of its 5G network, Orange Belgium has now been named the fastest 5G network in Belgium with a Speed Score of 48.66, based on data collected by Ookla® in Q2-Q3 20251.

Based on billions of daily crowdsourced network performance samples taken with Speedtest® applications, Ookla® offers an unparalleled view of global network performance. This extensive data enables Ookla® to provide the most accurate and comprehensive insights into network quality, accessibility, and reliability across the globe. These data are valuable not only for citizens, who can assess their network quality for free, but also for Orange Belgium, which continuously improves its services in line with customers’ evolving expectations.

Network speed highlighted by objective data

The data collected during the 2nd and 3rd quarter of 2025 combine download and upload speeds with latency measurements, meaning the network’s reaction time in milliseconds. The lower the latency is, the smoother and more instantaneous the experience. In concrete terms, Orange’s network achieved a median download speed of 159.57 Mbps, and 14.08 Mbps in upload.

A strategic modernization serving the customer experience

For several years, Orange Belgium has been making significant investments to modernize its antennas and core network, while strengthening the synergy between 4G and 5G. These efforts directly enhance the user experience: higher download speeds, a more stable connection, and improved image quality—whether for working, gaming, or staying connected in everyday life.

Philippe Toussaint, Chief Technology Officer at Orange Belgium: “Orange Belgium is firmly committed to delivering high-performance 5G connectivity. By executing our Lead the Future strategy and leveraging the Orange Group’s technological expertise, we continue to raise network performance standards. This recognition also honors the dedication of our technical teams, whom I sincerely thank. In 2026, we will keep elevating the customer experience with an unwavering focus on performance and excellence.”
